Overview
We are unable to service, diagnose, or repair vehicles that have been remapped or had emissions systems modified. This includes:
- Any ECU remap (performance, economy, or otherwise)
- DPF, EGR, or SCR/AdBlue removal, deletion, or emulation
- Fault code deletion or sensor spoofing
Why We Have This Policy
Reliability Concerns
We regularly see premature turbo failures, engine damage, and component wear directly caused by remapping. These modifications push engines beyond their designed limits, often without the owner's full knowledge of the risks.
Diagnostic Difficulties
Remapped vehicles frequently contain altered, spoofed, or deleted data that makes accurate diagnosis extremely difficult or impossible. We cannot reliably identify faults when the ECU is providing false or manipulated information.
Software Updates May Remove Remaps and Reveal Hidden Faults
As part of our standard diagnostic process, we use manufacturer software which may update your vehicle's ECU. This will overwrite and remove any existing remap.
Additionally, if your vehicle has faults that were masked or "fixed" by remapping (such as a deleted DPF or faulty EGR), these faults will reappear once the manufacturer software is installed. Your vehicle may leave with more warning lights than it arrived with.
We cannot be held responsible for the loss of a remap or the uncovering of hidden faults during routine diagnosis or servicing.
Legal Issues
Modifications that remove or disable emissions controls (DPF, EGR, SCR) are illegal for road-registered vehicles in the UK under the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations.
Health and Safety
Vehicles with disabled emissions systems produce significantly higher exhaust emissions, creating an unpleasant and potentially harmful workshop environment.
What This Means For You
If you have purchased a vehicle and are unsure whether it has been remapped, we're happy to advise.
Unfortunately, if we discover a remap during diagnosis, we will be unable to continue with the work.
